- Safety: Follow strict radiation safety protocols throughout the process.
- Setup: Position the material and place a radiographic film or digital detector behind it.
- Radiation Exposure: Emit X-rays or gamma rays through the material.
- Image Capture: Capture radiation passing through the material on film or digital media.
- Development: Develop conventional film or process digital images prior to analysis
- Analysis: Examine the image for defects, such as cracks, porosity, or inclusions. All interpretations and discontinuities found are evaluated, sized, and compared to the applicable code, standard or customer specifications to determine if they meet the requirements to be deemed acceptable or rejectable.
